Comment: Although Lamarck published Stadmania in Tabl. Encycl. 1: t. 312. 1793 as an illustration with analysis, the genus was not validly published because no species epithet was listed. In Tabl. Encycl. 2:417 and 443, the genus is spelled Stadmania and Stadmannia, respectively, but according to TL-2, both date from 1819; neither instance is the place of valid publication.
